I purchased a Varun electric bicycle on Amazon, and upon consulting with Varun's official team, I learned that they offer only a 6-month warranty for purchases made through Amazon, as Amazon seller is their authorized operating agent.

We loved the bike so much that we purchased another one!

Firstly, I rarely write reviews for Google purchases, but I feel compelled to share my experience with Varun. This was my first electric bike, and I had some doubts about purchasing something that inexpensive. I wondered if it could actually be of good quality. The bike arrived in a large box and was mostly assembled, with the gears, chain, brakes, and other components already put together. I only needed to attach the front wheel, handlebars, lights, pedals, and a few small pieces. Despite not being mechanically inclined, I was able to confidently put it together by following a video guide on Varun's website.

After charging the battery, I was extremely excited to take it for a ride. It was amazing! The bike was so much fun and provided a comfortable riding experience (powerful, fast, solid and great range). I enjoyed riding along the canal trail, stopping for a drink and even having a snack in the sun. My partner rode alongside me on his old bike, and after swapping with me for a short while, he loved my new bike so much that we ended up buying another Sleeper from Varun just two weeks later!

It has now been several months, and we absolutely adore our bikes. Even when we use them for short trips to the bakery or for grabbing coffee, the battery lasts for weeks on a single charge. The bikes look great, seem to be well constructed, and provide a wonderful riding experience.

I want to express my gratitude to Varun for standing behind their product and for providing exceptional customer service.

Overall pros: The e-bike offers excellent value for its price and is suitable for beginners and casual riders. It is well-suited for mostly flat areas.

Unboxing/Assembly: The bikes arrived promptly and were reasonably packaged in a single large box. The assembly process was straightforward and not overly complicated.

Comfort: The bikes have a step-through design, making it easy to get on and off, and they are quite comfortable for both myself (a 5'6" female) and my partner (a 6' male). It is worth noting that the bike seat and handlebars have been recently updated and differ from the brown seat/handles often seen in reviews. These upgrades have significantly improved comfort.

Ride/Battery Life:

The bike offers three assistance levels ranging from 1 to 3. It operates on pedal assist but also has a throttle on the right handlebar that can be used when needed. Initially, it takes some adjustment to get used to the bike automatically starting when pedaling. At level 3, the bike delivers extremely powerful assistance. Even when going uphill, you may not need to exert much effort. If you desire an e-bike that requires minimal pedaling or effort, this would be an ideal choice. For me, it provides just the right amount of exercise while still allowing for a leisurely ride.

The battery life is decent and generally matches the advertised specifications, if not slightly longer. There is one very short, steep incline on my regular riding trail that consistently depletes one whole battery bar. During our typical ride, which covers about 20-23 miles consisting of approximately 80-90% flat or slightly inclined terrain, with constant assistance, we usually have less than half of the battery remaining. If you frequently ride uphill, expect the battery life to be considerably shorter. Additionally, I typically tow a toddler trailer, which adds extra weight to the load.

The bike's tires perform well on paved greenways and handle short distances of gravel, leaves, sticks, etc., with ease. However, they are not suited for off-road or more extreme mountain biking.

We decided to include saddlebags with our bikes, and they have proven to be incredibly useful. I can comfortably carry water bottles, a diaper bag, tools/first aid kit, and a small lunch box. (As mentioned before, we ride with a toddler, and we always seem to need numerous items).

While we are not avid cyclists, we thoroughly enjoy our daily rides along the local greenways or while exploring towns during beach vacations. In the future, we might consider investing in a more expensive option with greater battery power, such as the Altus-Pro or Ballistic. Yet, for now, these bikes are perfect for our needs.
